Baku (TDI): In a significant stride towards energy cooperation, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan have signed a strategic agreement to jointly produce and transfer green energy.
The pact was signed on Wednesday by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit during the COP29 conference in Baku.
The agreement aims to enhance integration across the three nations’ energy systems, creating sustainable energy corridors to supply green power to European and other international markets.

President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality, noting that the country is developing infrastructure to support sustainability and has established agreements for green energy projects totaling 43 gigawatts.
Uzbek President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of renewable energy to lessen environmental impacts, highlighting the benefits of transmitting wind and solar power.

Additionally, energy ministers from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia signed an executive program for further cooperation in green energy production and transfer.
