Ashgabat, 26 October 2021 (TDI): Kazakh President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held bilateral talks.
Kazakh President mentioned the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is developing in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual support. He also recalled that trade and economic cooperation serve as the core of Kazakh-Turkmen’s multifaceted ties.
The Head of state pointed out that Kazakhstan is ready to increase the supply of products to Turkmenistan. President mentioned the governments were instructed to speed up the signing of the Agreement on the Encouragement and Protection of Investments. He also mentioned Nur Sultan is ready to significantly increase imports of Turkmen gas.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the initiative of the Turkmen leader to build a bridge across the Kara-Bogaz Bay. This bridge will launch a new highway in the direction of Kazakhstan. He also expressed support for his colleague’s proposal to hold the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan in 2022. The head of state called this event an important element to strengthen people-to-people linkage.
The Heads of both countries expressed confidence that the results of the negotiations would strengthen the bonds of friendship. This visit will open the horizons for bringing the Kazakh-Turkmen partnership to new strategic heights. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also invited the Turkmen President to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan next year.
