Karachi (TDI): The University of Karachi is set to implement a bi-annual examination system for its Associate Degree (AD) programmes in Arts, Science, and Commerce, which were previously known as B.Com, BA, and B.Sc programmes.
If approved, the new policy will apply to all public and private colleges affiliated with the University of Karachi.
Under the proposed system, exams will be held twice a year, covering half of the syllabus in each six-month term, according to The Express Tribune.
The academic year will consist of five months of teaching, followed by one month dedicated to examinations.
University’s Move Aligns with HEC Policy Changes
This move aligns with the recent policy changes by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which abolished two-year graduation programmes nationwide, and introduced the associate degree system.
Secretary of the University of Karachi’s Affiliation Committee Professor Dr. Anila Amber Malik has been tasked by Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi to present the plan at the Academic Council meeting slated for December 3.
