Japan’s Envoy Extends Greetings on Pakistan Day

Islamabad (TDI): Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, has extended felicitations to Pakistani people on Pakistan Day.
In a video message in Urdu, the Ambassador expressed best wishes for both the leadership and people of Pakistan saying, “May this day bring you joy, peace and prosperity. Happy Pakistan Day.”
Akamatsu Shuichi ended his video message with “Long Live Japan-Pakistan Friendship.”

Pakistan marks March 23rd as the National Day or Pakistan Day to remember the Lahore Resolution which was adopted on March 23, 1940.

It was the first official statement of the All India Muslim League calling for a separate, independent Muslim homeland.

Each year, Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad organize events around the Pakistan Day and invite host countries’ dignitaries as well.

This year, Pakistan Embassy in China held an elaborate celebration in Beijing, in the presence of China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Ambassador Sun Weidong.

Likewise, Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi also hosted an event to celebrate Pakistan Day.

Charge d’ Affaires Saad Ahmad Warraich spoke to the gathering which included diplomats, political figures, journalists, civil society, and businessmen.

Another major honorary celebration took place in New York where the State Assembly and Senate proclaimed March 23 as “Pakistan-American Heritage Day” and March 19 as “Pakistani-American Business Celebration Day,” in unanimously approved resolutions.

Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Japan span over seventy three years.

In an interesting survey conducted in 2023, 59% Japanese expressed “strong intent” to choose Pakistan as a tourist destination.

Over these seventy three years, both countries have succeeded in maintaining a soft image for each other.

Japan is an export destination for Pakistan’s premium fruit – especially mango and dates, fisheries, shrimp, salt, textile products, sport goods, agricultural products – including sesame, rice, and Guar Gum.

In addition, Japan’s electronics, automobiles, medical equipment, and auto parts, are highly trusted in Pakistan and attract a huge market.

As of 2022, 25000 Pakistanis were living in Japan.
