Tokyo, 23 April 2024 (TDI): WADA Mitsuhiro, Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of a security guard and the injuries sustained by others in the despicable suicide attack in Karachi’s Landhi area on April 19th.
Japan’s Government has condemned terrorism in all its forms and, reaffirmed its commitment to global peace and security.
Five Japanese nationals miraculously remained unhurt in a suicide attack on their Hiace van.
The Sharafi Goth police and the security guards in the van shot dead the suicide bomber’s accomplice and killed the suicide bomber near Landhi’s Mansehra Colony bus stop in a retaliatory exchange of fire during the attack.
Another security guard and a bystander, a fire brigade employee suffered injuries because of the other terrorist’s firing.
The security guard who lost his life in the attack was identified as 45-year-old Noor Mohammad. Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said he had suffered a bullet wound to the head.
Our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the bereaved family, and we pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.
However, “The police provide security to foreigners working on CPEC [China-Pakistan Economic Corridor] and other projects and the security guards have also shown great courage in this act of terrorism.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the terrorist attack in Karachi. Timely action by the police prevented any major loss of life, he said.
