Antananarivo, 8 October 2021 (TDI): HIGUCHI Yoshi, the Japanese Ambassador to Madagascar, held talks with the newly appointed transport Minister of the Republic of Madagascar.
The meeting aimed at the cooperation between the Republic of Madagascar and Japan in the field of transportation. The special focus was placed on the expansion of Toamasina port under the Japanese Official Development Assistance ODA.

The Toamasina port expansion project is one of the largest projects running between the Republic of Madagascar and Japan. The Project is positioned as Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific Framework for enhancing and strengthening regional connectivity.
Lastly, the Ambassador of Japan to Madagascar also announced during the meeting that Japan Plans to triple the capacity of Toamasina port by 2026.
