Islamabad (TDI): The Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Mr WADA Mitsuhir Wednesday conferred the “Japanese Ambassador’s Commendations” to Ms SHIRAI Mariko – the Lahore Sogetsu Study Group and the Lahore Bonsai Society at a ceremony held at his Official Residence in Islamabad.
These commendations are presented to individuals or organisations that have made significant contributions in support of the work of the Embassy of Japan.
SHIRAI Mariko, the General Manager of Cox & Kings Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., has long been the main contact for Japanese travellers in Pakistan.

During the ceremony, Ambassador WADA praised her efforts in fostering cultural ties between Pakistan and Japan and thanked her for supporting the embassy’s activities.
The ambassador also honoured The Lahore Sogetsu Study Group, known for promoting the Japanese art of Ikebana (flower arranging).
Their displays at key Japanese events in Pakistan, such as the Emperor’s Birthday and Self-Defense Forces Day, were acknowledged by the ambassador, who admired their dedication to Japanese culture.

The Lahore Bonsai Society, which specializes in Japanese-style potted trees, received recognition for their artistic contributions at Japanese receptions. Ambassador WADA shared his own passion for Bonsai and expressed hope for future collaborations with the society.
Ms SHIRAI, Ms. Neveen Syed, President of the Lahore Sogetsu Study Group, and Mr Mian Umair, President of the Lahore Bonsai Society, were presented with certificates of commendation and memorial trophies.
