They also discussed several regional and international issues of common interest, especially the Palestinian issue and the Middle East peace process.
The Assistant Foreign Minister of Qatar emphasized that coordination and efforts are required to enhance security and stability at the political and humanitarian levels.
Al Khulaifi also highlighted the deep-rooted ties of both countries as both countries will enter a new reign of cooperation following the 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.
It is to be noted that Japan and Qatar celebrated 50 years of relations in March with Yoshimasa Hayashi exchanging greetings through a video message at a reception hosted by Qatari Ambassador to Japan, Hassan Al-Emadi.
Japan and Qatar ties
Bilateral relations were established between both countries in 1972. Both sides have signed several agreements since then in the fields of investment, education and scientific and medical research, science and technology, tourism, and infrastructure development.
It is worth mentioning here that in 2016, Qatar was declared the sixth most significant import partner of Japan. Mutual visits at the level of senior officials of the two countries contributed to the development of bilateral relations.
