Karachi (TDI): Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, AKAMATSU Shuichi, visited the YKK industry, the International Steel industry, and Lt. Gen (R) Tariq Waseem Ghazi Bonsai Center in Karachi. These visits aimed at reaffirming Japan’s commitment to strengthening industrial collaboration and cultural exchange with Pakistan.
Ambassador AKAMATSU Shuichi visited International Steel (ISL) LTD on March 27th. During the visit, the Japanese delegation was informed about the manufacturing capabilities of the industry as well as its sustainability initiatives and contributions to Pakistan’s economy.
The discussions focused on expanding investment prospects, enhancing bilateral commerce, and implementing Japanese industrial knowledge in Pakistan’s steel industry.

ISL is one of Pakistan’s leading manufacturers of cold-rolled and galvanized steel products. Since 2007, the industry has been manufacturing specialized steel grades for industries such as automotive, HVACR, electrical applications, and tin plate manufacturing.
The company imports raw-material from top-tier mills in Japan and has pioneered corten steel in Pakistan for regional and global clients, demonstrating its innovation potential.
At YKK, the Japanese Ambassador met with corporate executives to explore prospective areas of cooperation, technical achievements, and Japan’s role in improving Pakistan’s industrial sector.

YKK industry, a project of Sumitomo Corp of Japan, has a long history in Pakistan and has been supplying zippers to Pakistani garment manufacturers since long. The company began its production in 2007 and has been supplying all types of Zippers in Pakistan.
Earlier, AKAMATSU Shuichi visited Lt. Gen (R) Tariq Waseem Ghazi Bonsai Center in Karachi, where he praised the efforts of Bonsai Society to promote the Japanese art of bonsai cultivation.
The visit also highlighted Japan and Pakistan’s common admiration for artistic and horticultural heritage, which culminates in stronger people-to-people ties.

During the visit, members of the Bonsai Society showcased their meticulously cultivated bonsai trees. They also exchanged insights on bonsai techniques and discussed future collaborations with Japan to promote this living art form.
Ambassador AKAMATSU Shuichi expressed keen interest and encouragement for bonsai enthusiasts.
