Islamabad (TDI): Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar began his day in Islamabad with a quiet morning walk on the premises of the Indian High Commission, accompanied by Indian diplomats.
Jaishankar, who is leading India’s delegation at the Shanghai Cooperation organization (SCO) Summit, is the first Indian External Affairs Minister to visit Pakistan in nine years.
Sharing a glimpse of his morning activities, Jaishankar posted a picture on social media, wearing a bottle-green full-sleeved shirt and track pants, while walking with colleagues from the Indian High Commission.

“A morning walk together with colleagues of Team @IndiainPakistan in our High Commission campus,” he tweeted.
In a symbolic gesture, the minister also planted an Arjuna sapling at the High Commission’s premises as part of an environmental initiative.
“An Arjuna sapling at @IndiainPakistan premises is another commitment to #Plant4Mother,” he wrote.
Later today, Jaishankar will attend the SCO Summit at the Jinnah Convention Centre, where leaders from various member states will deliberate on important regional matters.
On Tuesday, he participated in an informal dinner hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders exchanged pleasantries and shook hands.
However, no formal bilateral meetings are scheduled between Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar, as tensions over cross-border terrorism continue to strain relations.

Jaishankar’s arrival at Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan airbase on Tuesday marked the first visit by an Indian foreign minister to Pakistan since 2015, when Sushma Swaraj attended a regional conference in Islamabad.
