London (TDI): Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant will appeal against the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants, BBC has reported.
A week earlier, ICC issued the warrants for arresting the Israeli PM and the defence minister along with Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif, citing concrete grounds that the three men are responsible for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Despite the fact that Israel is being condemned and criticized for it brutal acts, Israel’s government, along with Netanyahu and Gallant, are rejecting the accusations, according to various media reports.

The Israeli prime minister’s office has reportedly said that it had informed the ICC of its intended appeal.
Surprisingly, it denies the authority of the ICC and the legitimacy of the warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, yet intends to appeal against the decision in the international court.
US President Joe Biden also dubbed the ICC’s warrants as outrageous when it were issued.
Though the US and Israel are not ICC member states, yet its members worldwide are obliged to take action in detaining a wanted defendant if they are found to be in their jurisdiction.
Majority of the European Union countries have reportedly indicated that they will respect the ICC’s decision, while decline to comment.
The British government has made it clear that Netanyahu would be arrested if he enters the UK.
France’s prime minister said last week that they would strongly comply with its obligations under international law, without further elaborating.
“No-one gets immunity from an ICC arrest warrant because they’re in office – not Netanyahu, not Putin, no-one,” said Andrew Stroehlein from Human Rights Watch.
The ICC ruled in 2021 that it had jurisdiction over the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza because the UN’s secretary general had accepted the Palestinians a member.
Netanyahu blamed for genocide and worst type of racism and the world is witnessing atrocities and defiance of laws and values by Israel and its government yet the Prime Minister dubbed the ICC’s warrants as anti-Semitism.
