Iraqi Foreign Minister met PM Imran Khan

Islamabad, 13 August 2021 (TDI)  Foreign Minister of Iraq Dr. Faud Hussain met with Prime Minister Imran Khan today in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Imran Khan warmly welcomed the Foreign Minister of Iraq and confirmed Pakistan’s close relationship with Iraq that was created on strong values, faith, and culture. Imran Khan didn’t hesitate to appreciate Iraq as they worked hard to rebuild their country and wished them well for their upcoming Parliamentary elections.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioned the importance of bilateral relations with the country and emphasized that the two countries must continue with their mutual cooperation in diverse fields. Imran Khan also unlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as far as the resolution of issues is concerned. On the Afghan Peace Process, the Prime Minister made it clear that Pakistan has always supported political settlement and will continue to do this. However, Imran Khan has encouraged the international community to support peace in Afghanistan as this is a shared responsibility.

Foreign Minister of Iraq Dr. Faud Hussain conveyed cordial greetings of the Iraqi leadership. He also brought attention to Iraq’s efforts to promote peace in the region and cooperation between countries. He also acknowledged the fact that both Iraq and Pakistan have been similar this way.

At the end of the meeting, Foreign Minister thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for the invitation and conveyed the invitation of the Prime Minister of Iraq for him to visit Iraq.
