Iraq Receives Pakistan’s 1st batch of Super Mushshak Aircraft

Balad, 19 May 2023 (TDI): The Iraqi Air Force achieved a remarkable milestone in its defense partnership with Pakistan as it welcomed the inaugural shipment of Super Mushshak aircraft.

In a momentous event held at Balad Air Base, Iraq, the aircraft was officially handed over during an impressive induction ceremony.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Pakistan Air Force Air Staff, graced the occasion as the guest of honor.

Senior military leaders warmly received the esteemed Air Chief from the Iraqi defense forces upon his arrival.

Addressing the audience with fervor, the Air Chief Marshal said that the Pakistan Air Force has consistently sought to enhance its operational capabilities through indigenous efforts and modernization.

The expeditious procurement of the Super Mushshak aircraft exemplifies Pakistan’s advanced aviation prowess and reinforces the deep bond of brotherhood between Pakistan and Iraq.

He emphasized the PAF’s commitment to providing comprehensive training and technical support to the Iraqi Air Force, ensuring their air power requirements are met.

The Chief of the Air Staff reiterated his unwavering dedication to strengthening the existing military-to-military cooperation and training cooperation between the two nations.

Furthermore, he highlighted the profound religious, cultural, and historical ties that bind Pakistan and Iraq, manifested through the strong relationship between their respective air forces.

During his speech, the Iraqi Minister of Defense, Thabet Mohammad Al-Abbasi, expressed admiration for the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force personnel.

He personally conveyed his gratitude to the Chief of Air Staff for his cooperation and unwavering commitment to making the Super Mushshak aircraft available in Iraq.

The Minister highlighted the significant role these aircraft will play in training cadet pilots and enhancing the capabilities of the Iraqi Air Force.

He thanked the Government of Pakistan for their invaluable assistance in modernizing the Iraqi Air Force, which is currently in a crucial phase of capacity building.

He also expressed keen interest in Pakistan’s multirole JF-17 fighter jet program, aiming to further enhance Iraq’s war-fighting capabilities.

Manufactured by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra, the Super Mushshak aircraft enjoys a global reputation as a preferred choice for pilot training.

The training includes Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, South Africa, Qatar, Turkey, and Nigeria, further attesting to their exceptional performance.
