Tehran, 15 February 2024(TDI): Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the political bureau of the Palestinian movement Hamas, recently held a meeting in Doha.
At the outset of the discussion, Iran’s foreign minister extended greetings from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Iran’s president to Haniyeh and the Palestinian people.
According to reports, Amirabdollahian and Haniyeh discussed a number of issues, notably the present situation in Gaza and the necessity of fighting the Zionist regime’s aggression and crimes against the people of Gaza and the West Bank under Israeli occupation.
Discussion and diplomatic efforts
Furthermore, Amirabdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, emphasized the brave resistance of the Palestinian people against nearly four months of brutal assault and criminal acts by Israelis.
He continued, “Regardless of the heavy human and financial losses and widespread devastation in Gaza and the West Bank, the scope of the brilliant victory of the nation and the currents of Palestinian resistance became apparent day by day.”
Additionally, Amirabdollahian pointed out that the Israeli authority and the US, who had earlier stated that the eradication of Hamas was one of their core aims in the Gaza conflict, had now accepted Hamas as a party to political negotiations to resolve the conflict.

Iran’s foreign minister criticizes US
On top of that, Iran’s foreign minister criticized the US for its contradictory approach to the Gaza crisis. He stated that the US claimed not to expand the conflict, but it continued to support the Zionist regime.
“At the same time as attacking Yemen and taking military actions in Iraq and Syria, the U.S. committed a strategic mistake and contributed to the danger of the spread of war in the region,” he added.
During the discussion, he also updated on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s most recent diplomatic attempts to end the war in Gaza, lift the siege, and deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.
Hamas leader accepts Iran’s diplomatic efforts
However, following the discussions, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh welcomed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomatic and political efforts to stop the fighting in Gaza.
He concluded the meeting, highlighting that the Zionist regime failed to accomplish its stated objectives after almost four months of war and crimes against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
