ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, suffered multiple injuries, including the loss of one eye, when a pager he was carrying exploded in a coordinated attack targeting Hezbollah members.
The explosion, attributed to Israel’s operation and has escalated tensions in the already volatile region.
Over nine persons have been reportedly killed during the explosion, and around 3,000 others, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, have been wounded.
Iran Ambassador Lost Eye
Preliminary reports from Qatari state media suggested Amani’s injuries were superficial, but later confirmations from Iranian sources indicated the injuries were serious.
Amani is expected to be transported to Tehran for further medical care, along with two injured bodyguards.

The blasts, believed to be caused by tampered pagers, took place in Hezbollah strongholds, particularly in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Journalists witnessed numerous wounded Hezbollah members receiving treatment for serious injuries.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, condemned the attack and offered to evacuate Amani and other victims for treatment in Iran.

Hezbollah has accused Israel of orchestrating the explosions, amidst ongoing tensions following recent conflicts involving Hamas and Israel.
