Iranian Envoy Meets Khwaja Asif

Islamabad, (TDI): Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, called on Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday to discuss matters of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation and border management.

During the meeting, Khwaja Asif highlighted the long-standing and cordial relations between Pakistan and Iran, rooted in shared religious and cultural ties.

He emphasized the significance of the Joint Border Commission and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to effective border management, stressing the need for continued joint efforts in this area.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen collaboration in areas of common interest.

Pak-Iran Ties

Pakistan and Iran share a unique and multifaceted relationship, shaped by geographic proximity, religious and cultural affinities, and shared regional interests.

While the relationship has had its challenges, the two countries have maintained a steady partnership in areas like trade, border security, and diplomatic cooperation.

The bond between Pakistan and Iran dates back centuries, built on shared Islamic heritage and cultural exchanges.

Iran was the first country to formally recognize Pakistan after its independence in 1947.
