Iran to US: Stay Out of Conflict

-

Tehran, (TDI): Iran has warned the United States against getting involved following its large-scale missile attack on Israel, Iranian media quoted Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi as saying.

Araqchi stated that Iran acted in “self-defense” against Israel, saying that their response is concluded unless the “Israeli regime invites further retaliation.”

On Tuesday, Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel in retaliation for the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the recent killings of leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas.

Araqchi said that Iran had communicated to the U.S. not to interfere after the attack on Israel.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Araqchi clarified, “Message exchanges do not imply coordination. No communication was made prior to our response to Israel. After our response, a warning was sent through Switzerland to the U.S., affirming our right to self-defense and that we do not plan to continue the attack.”

The Iranian foreign minister added that their action against Israel followed a period of significant restraint aimed at creating space for a truce in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, Iran’s foreign ministry called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take “meaningful action” to address threats to regional security and peace.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said that yesterday attack on Israel was a response both to the death on Friday of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the Hamas political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran in July.
