The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) said the attack was in response to the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoshan.
Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran in July. Nasrallah was killed Friday in Beirut, along with Nilforoshan.
It stated that the attack was conducted with the support of the army and Defence Ministry.
After the assassination of Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv enhanced and the attack was anticipated. Iran had accused Israel for the high-profile killing and vowed a stern response.
The causality of Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in a southern suburb of Beirut was strongly condemnation by Iran.
The intensity of damages in the Iranian attack is unknown until now.
Israel and the United States warned there would be severe consequences in the event of an attack on Israel from Iran, which backs the militant groups in the region.
Moments before Iran launched its missiles, a shooting attack in Tel Aviv left six people dead, international media reported. The two suspects who had opened fire in the Jaffa neighborhood had also been reportedly killed.
