Iran Condemns US and Israeli Strikes, Vows Decisive Response

Tehran (TDI): Iran on Saturday strongly condemned the military aggression by the United States and Israel, saying the attacks targeted Iranian territory and violated international law.

In an official statement, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the strikes were carried out early Saturday across several Iranian cities, including attacks on defense infrastructure and civilian sites. The assault took place on the eve of Nowruz and during the holy month of Ramadan, the statement added.

Tehran said the strikes occurred while Iran and the United States were engaged in a diplomatic process related to Iran’s nuclear program. According to the ministry, Iran had entered negotiations despite what it described as prior concerns about US and Israeli intentions, in order to demonstrate its commitment to a peaceful resolution.

The foreign ministry accused Washington and Israel of violating Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling the attacks a breach of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter. It said Iran considers any response to the strikes to be lawful under Article 51 of the charter, which affirms the right to self-defense.

“Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared and will respond to this aggression with authority,” the statement said, adding that the country had exhausted all diplomatic efforts before the attacks took place.

The ministry also called on the United Nations and its Security Council to take immediate action, urging the UN Secretary-General and council members to address what it described as a serious threat to international peace and security.

Iran appealed to UN member states, particularly regional countries, Islamic nations, and members of the Non-Aligned Movement, to condemn the strikes and take collective action, warning that the attacks had significantly increased the risk of wider regional instability.

The statement concluded by saying Iran would not yield to foreign aggression, adding that the country’s response would be “decisive” and aimed at deterring further attacks.
