Iran, China Evaluate Strategic Partnership

Tehran, 2 June 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Iran Hussein Amir Abdollahian met with Chinese Foreign Ministry Security Commissioner Cheng Guoping on Tuesday Afternoon.

The two officials addressed the latest state of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Iran and China, as well as its implementation, during their discussion.

They emphasized the need for the two countries to complete a comprehensive cooperation plan.

Cheng Guoping also complimented Amir Abdollahian on his visit to Beijing and extended an invitation to the Iranian Foreign Minister to visit the Chinese capital.

Cheng Guoping was also pleased with the trend of Tehran and Beijing strengthening strategic ties.

Amir Abdollahian further emphasized the importance of bolstering the positive trend in relations. He stressed the importance of cooperation between Iran and China in international institutions. Close consultation, according to Amir Abdollahian, is critical in the region.

The two sides also talked about regional and international cooperation, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

Telephonic Conversation Between the Two Foreign Ministers

In a phone discussion in September 2021, Amir Abdollahian and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi emphasized the importance of implementing the two nations’ pre-arranged strategic partnership deal.

During the phone call, the two sides emphasized the need of implementing the 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Tehran and Beijing signed the agreement in March.

The deal formalizes the Sino-Iranian Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was unveiled during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Tehran in 2016.

It outlines the political, cultural, security, defense, and regional cooperation between historical allies. For the next 25 years, as well as worldwide domains.

During the phone discussion, Amir Abdullahian reaffirmed Iran’s strategic connection with China, as well as the two nations’ long-standing friendship.

He complimented China for encouraging Iran to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The Bilateral Relations of Iran and China

Iran and China have agreed to a 25-year cooperation deal that will boost bilateral relations. The deal also focuses on strengthening political and strategic relations.

Relations between the two countries are becoming increasingly cooperative as areas of mutual interest expand.
