President Bach Interview

In an interview, Bach praised the work and passion of the Chinese government and people.“Without the commitment of the Chinese people, Beijing 2022 would not have been able to attain this level of perfection.

Their warmth, energy, hospitality, and support were overwhelming. They showed extreme dedication to ensure the success of the Winter Games.”

As a matter of fact, with ongoing high political tensions in the international political community, Beijing was able to successfully carry out games.

Bach commented on the performance of Chinese people, “Chinese people of all ages, from all walks of life, from all generations, from the cultural world including artists, scientists, engineers, schoolchildren, and hundreds of volunteers, all greeted the athletes and us with open arms.”

Later, Bach said that the impressive moments of IOC were when Ukrainian and Russian athletes embraced each other. Chinese competitors offered pin signs to their American counterparts to show their hospitality.

Additionally, he applauded China’s efforts to engage 300 million people in winter sports by using the Winter Games’ opportunities. Final reports from the closing ceremony of Beijing 2022 were followed by an announcement of this special recognition by the organizing committee.
