New York, 25 July 2022 (TDI): The interns at the Pakistan Consulate General in New York visited the NYPD training Police Academy on Sunday 24 July.

The interns gained valuable experience in public service during their visit to the NYPD training academy. During the visit, the interns entailed a hands-on experience of what rigor the officers serving the NYC go through.
Interns met with different accomplished officers and participated in various activities that real officers go through during their laborious training programs.
Summer Internship at Pakistan Consulate General in New York
The Pakistan Consulate General in New York launched its Summer Internship Program this year in May. This three-month internship is an opportunity for Pakistani American students to connect with their roots.
The program provides an opportunity to students from acclaimed US educational institutions like Columbia University, and George Washington University.
The main purpose of this internship is to engage Pakistani American youth in research on international affairs and give them a glimpse of real-life diplomacy.
As a part of their internship program, the interns visited the 2022 Brooklyn Energy Summit and Expo on June 22.
On June 25, the interns visited the UN Headquarters in New York to learn about how world-changing resolutions are passed. They learned about the role of Pakistan as the current Chair of the G77.
Interns also observed different work undertaken by various committees of the UN including international security and humanitarian aid.
As part of learning about public service, interns visited the NYPD 115th Precinct on July 15. There the interns met with the NYPD team, including Inspector Jamiel S. Altaheri.
Interns learned more about the diff departments at a precinct and ways to meaningfully engage with local police via NYPD Community Affairs officers. They observed the great work of the officers and detectives to keep the community and city safe.
Such internships promote US-Pakistan collaboration at the academic level strengthening diplomatic relations between both states.
