Islamabad, 5 September 2024 (TDI): With the introduction of a new feature, Instagram stories now allow users to comment, providing a more open avenue for interaction with the short-lived posts.
Before, the user could only respond to stories through private messages. Commenting on Stories is now possible for up to 24 hours amongst users who follow each other.
Users will be able to enable or disable comments for individual stories, according to Instagram spokesperson Emily Norfolk.
It’s unclear, though, if the comments will be archived once the Story ends.
It has been working hard to improve user engagement with features like Reels and Stories, and this upgrade is the result.

Instagram added “notes” to grid posts and Reels earlier this summer that disappear after three days, enabling users to offer comments.
Furthermore, it declared today that in an effort to highlight friend connections, some post likes will now show up as floating hearts, disappearing note.
