Islamabad, 30 September 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Indonesia Adam Mulawarman Tugio, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf in Parliament House.

At the meeting, issues relevant to strengthening bilateral ties, legislative collaboration, and support for the National Assembly of Pakistan’s proposal for the climate fund were discussed.
Remarks by Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan
Raja Parvez Ashraf remarked that Pakistan has a unique affinity for Indonesia and its people. The relationship is because of the shared culture and, religious beliefs, of both countries.
In discussing the recent flood and its aftermath, Raja Parvez Ashraf noted that Pakistan faced unprecedented challenges.
In light of recent floods, the National Assembly has proposed an emergency agenda for the 145th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Rwanda.
The proposal for the establishment of a global fund to combat climate fallout in Pakistan would be submitted. The IPU would be held from October 11-15, 2022.
He stated that a letter and resolution requesting support for Pakistan’s position at the conference had been addressed to the Speaker of the People’s Representative Council of Indonesia.
He thanked the government and the people of Indonesia for providing aid to Pakistan flood victims.

Adam Mulawarman concurred that climate change is a global issue requiring global attention and commitment.
He conveyed his condolences for the tremendous losses caused by terrible floods and his sympathy to the flood victims.
Due to the severity of climate-related damage in Pakistan, he promised to forward the message of Parvez Ashraf to the Indonesian leadership, urging them to support Pakistan’s National Assembly’s proposal for the establishment of a global climate fund to aid in climate-resilient reconstruction.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen bilateral interactions in all domains and provide mutual support in regional and international forums.
