India launches Global Biofuel Alliance at G20 Summit

New Delhi, 10 September 2023 (TDI): On the sideline of the G20 Summit, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi along with the leaders of Singapore, Bangladesh, Italy, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mauritius, and UAE, launched the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) on September 9, in New Delhi.

The initiative of the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) is proposed by India as the G20 Chair.

While addressing the leaders of the Group of 20 major economies at the Summit, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi stated, “We are launching the Global Biofuel Alliance. India invites all of you to join this initiative.”

The Alliance intends to accelerate the global consumption of biofuels by facilitating technology advancements, intensifying the utilization of sustainable biofuels, and shaping robust standard settings.

The Alliance aspires to serve as a catalytic platform, fostering global collaboration for the advancement and widespread adoption of biofuels.

Under the theme of the G20 Summit, 2023, “One Earth, One Family, One Tree”, one of the main agendas is to focus on climate change and sustainable development.

In specification to that, the initiative of Global Fuel Alliance is to boost the use of cleaner fuels.

The Global Fuel Alliance is focused on securing the supply of biofuels, ensuring these biofuels remain affordable and are produced sustainably.

Besides that, the document of the New Delhi Declaration adopted at G20 on September 9, also emphasized on the collective commitment of the G20 leaders to not just focus on economic growth and development but to also make sure that it is environmentally sustainable and inclusive.
