Imran Khan met Executive Director of UNWFP

Islamabad, 26 August 2021 (TDI): The Executive Director of the Rome-based United Nations World Food Program Mr. David Beasley visited the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, in Islamabad today.

Khan, who himself has done a lot of work for humanity met with Mr. David Beasley and appreciated the role of the World Food Program as the vital international humanitarian organization for delivering food in emergencies. He also praised them for working with nations across the world to improve nutrition and build strength. He also highlighted that Pakistan has been a beneficiary of several World Food Program projects that are right now going on in the country. Furthermore, he mentioned that he values their partnership and work with other Organizations.

However, the talk wasn’t limited to the discussion about World Food Program because the catastrophe of Afghanistan was also discussed with Mr. David Beasley. The Prime Minister shared that he is determined on the idea that the formation of an inclusive government is necessary that can cater to the needs of the people in Afghanistan. He also said that the international community must positively engage with Afghanistan. This is the only way forward to ensure peace and security and is suitable to avoid a humanitarian crisis. Mr. David Beasley expressed gratitude towards Pakistan for its role in being beneficial towards the work of the United Nations World Food Program especially while providing food for Afghans. He also discussed the way in which they can help the continued provision of humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
