Tashkent July 17, 2021 (TDI): High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan in Uzbekistan.
The two met on the sidelines of the international conference themed “Central and South Asia Regional Connectivity: Challenges and Opportunities”. They discussed the security challenges and their impacts on the Central and South Asian region.
Regarding their approach towards the situation in Afghanistan, both Borrell and Khan share common ground. They believe that “a peacefully negotiated settlement” is the only solution to the unending circle of political instability and worsening national security in the state.
