Deputy Secretary’s Meeting with New Zealand’s Secretary

Washington, July 16, 2021 – (TDI): The Deputy Secretary of the United States of America, Wendy Sherman called on the Chief Executive and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, Chris Seed. Both the officials attested to the durable bilateral relationship of both countries, which is based on their mutual democratic values. Sherman appreciated New Zealand for its excellent hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. US deputy secretary and New Zealand’s Secretary exchanged views about the APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat of July 16. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern hosted the retreat in which President Joseph R. Biden participated. They expressed their firm resolve to collaborate in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, to counter the climate crisis, advance the multilateral organizations, enhance human rights, assist countries of Pacific Island, promote rule of law and increase regional stability.
