Peshawar, 2 September 2024 (TDI): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA KP) Monday issued an alert for heavy rains across the province.
The PDMA-KP said a new weather system will cause heavy rain in northern and southern parts of KP, including North Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Buner, Kohat, Bajur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, and Batagram.

According to the disaster management authority, the heavy downpour may trigger land sliding in mountainous areas of the province.
The authority also feared floods in plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

Meanwhile, PDMA Punjab also predicted heavy rain in the next 24 hours in majority of the cities in the province including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jehlum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Khushab, Sargodha Mianwali, Chiniot, Kasur, Narowal, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Mianwali.
This spill of rain will continue till September 4.
Earlier on Sunday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) predicted heavy rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in several parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta and Badin on September 4 and 5.
It said that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in urban areas and may cause damage to life and property.
