Kabul, 07 August 2021 (TDI): The meeting of the UNSC on Afghanistan was held today. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, welcomed and appreciated the statement. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah had also expressed his support for the UNSC meeting’s statement. In the meeting, the Taliban was asked to end and cease the ongoing violence against women, children, and minorities. It was discussed to engage Taliban in the negotiation process and peace talks to end the offensive.
It was negotiated during the meeting that Taliban should be brought onto peace talks that would result in an inclusive and just political statement and bring a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. It was agreed at the conclusion that there would be no military solution to the Afghan conflict.
