Islamabad: June 18, 2021-(TDI): German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck took to Twitter and shared the news of the opening of Germany’s first Islamic studies college in Osnabruck, Germany. The program will be for two years and will be taught in the German language. Through this initiative, Germany can have their Imans rather than foreign-trained.
The Interior Minister of Germany, Horst Seehofer, was part of this initiative. The institution will also help to fight growing extremism. As the number of Muslims increases in the country, the communication gap between the followers and foreign-trained Imam also increases. Providing Islamic knowledge in the German language through these types of institutions will play a crucial role. Young Muslims prefer speaking about their religion in the German language. Many think it will be a turning point for Muslim history in Germany.
