German FM Proposes Intra-Syrian Dialogue; 8 Points Plan

Ankara, Dec 20, 2024 (TDI): German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock  discussed regional situation after the removal of Asad regime as the Northeastern part of Syria is still at the hands of IS terrorists. She also proposed an eight-point agenda plan to support such a responsible policy in the interest of all Syrians and their stability.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited Turkey to met her Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, in Ankara, followed by the visit of a German delegation with officials of Damascus’s transitional government.

She accompanied her visit with the Minister of State, Federal Foreign Office Special Coordinator for Syria, Tobias Lindner, to discuss the current challenges and developmental possibilities in Syria.

Turkey, being a host state of the largest Syrian refugee community since 2011, holds a special place responsible for the implementation of peace projects after the end of the civil war.

According to the Foreign Minister’s statement, the meeting was aimed at mobilizing the efforts to conduct an intra-Syrian peace dialogue that involves all major groups in the region.

She highlighted the regional thread after the fall of the Asad regime as the Northeastern part of Syria is still at the hands of IS terrorists and other perpetrators of violence, and for that, she proposed an eight-point plan to support such a responsible policy in the interest of all Syrians and their stability.

German FM coated, “If Syria is to be rebuilt, if people are to return, no one must have to live in fear of being persecuted. As an international community, we must all pull in the same direction to this end”

Furthermore, besides talking about Syrian National integrity, she also discussed the security policy issues in the region as she considered Turkey to be the key player in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Tobias Lindner, Minister for State and Special Coordinator for Syria at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany had a meeting with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz on the Syrian crisis.Read More: Muslim World stand against violence

Before this visit, German FM Ms. Baerbock also talked with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, on the topic of Syrian territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The sight of the fact that Turkey and Germany have been at odds over the EU country’s unconditional support for Israel, which is accused of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
