Berlin, 13 September 2021 (TDI): German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Serbia today. During her visit, she is to meet the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic.
Merkel’s Belgrade visit is part of a larger Balkan tour. The German Chancellor will be visiting other Balkan states as well, including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
During her visit, the Chancellor will discuss matters of mutual interest, including political and economic cooperation, and the process of integration into the European Union.
The visit comes days before the German Chancellor is scheduled to retire following the German elections.
The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that the visit will help keep European unity. The German Ambassador to Belgrade, in a meeting with the Serbian President, remarked that the visit shows how important Serbia is for Berlin.
