Islamabad (TDI): Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, Alfred Grannas, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, at the Parliament House.
Ghulam Mustafa Shah also serves as the Convener of the Pakistan–Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG).
The meeting underscored both countries’ shared commitment to bolstering bilateral parliamentary cooperation and building stronger institutional ties.
In this spirit, Deputy Speaker Shah proposed the establishment of a counterpart Parliamentary Friendship Group in the German Bundestag.
He emphasized that such a step would facilitate regular dialogue, long-term engagement, and mutual collaboration between the two parliaments.

Discussions focused on expanding partnerships across critical areas such as climate cooperation, cultural and economic exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people contacts.
In a forward-looking gesture, Deputy Speaker Shah proposed hosting the next meeting of the Pakistan–Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group in June 2025.
He invited the participation of the German Ambassador and members of the PFG to further consolidate efforts toward a dynamic and enduring bilateral relationship.
Ambassador Grannas reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening ties with Pakistan and highlighted the growing significance of parliamentary diplomacy in achieving common objectives.
He lauded Pakistan’s constructive engagement and emphasized the need to build upon the existing momentum for a more comprehensive partnership.

Deputy Speaker Shah expressed his appreciation for Germany’s continued support at international forums, particularly concerning Pakistan’s GSP+ status within the European Union.
He also acknowledged Germany’s generous contributions to Pakistan’s development sector, including academic scholarships and initiatives focused on climate change and renewable energy.
Both sides acknowledged the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Germany relations and agreed on the necessity of translating goodwill into tangible outcomes.
They reiterated their shared resolve to strengthening parliamentary engagement, cultural understanding, economic ties, and grassroots-level cooperation in pursuit of sustainable development and climate resilience.
