Bali, 15 November 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Mohammed bin Salman, arrived in the Republic of Indonesia to attend the Group of Twenty, G20 Leaders’ Summit on Monday.

Mohammed bin Salman will lead the Kingdom’s delegation to the summit. Upon his arrival, at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, he was received by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Energy, Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Minister of Defense, Khalid bin Salman, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.

It is to be noted that world leaders are gathered in Bali to attend the two-day event held from 14 to 15 November. The discussion will revolve around issues facing the world, including the war in Ukraine, a global economic crisis, as well as food security.

G20 Religion Forum

Indonesia hosted the G20’s first-ever Religion Forum (R20), ahead of the summit on November 2. The country’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama and the Muslim World League organized the event.

It is worth mentioning here that the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Saudi Arabia’s official, Abdul Karim Issa, participated in R20.

While addressing the event, Essam Al-Thaqafi, Kingdom’s Ambassador to Indonesia said that Saudi Arabia, being the main member of G20 is expecting this summit to help resolve global challenges.

In this vein, the Ambassador added that “The Kingdom hopes that the results of this summit will limit the existing political escalation as a result of the war and the bad economic effects that this reflects.”

“The Saudi leadership is striving with all its support to make the (Bali) summit works a success, a role that Indonesia also played when the Kingdom hosted the work of the Group of 20 in 2020,” Al-Thaqafi concluded.

What is G20?

The G20 or Group of Twenty is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union (EU). The forum comprised the most economically powerful nations.

It addresses issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.
