Foreign Minister of Romania meets American State Secretary

Paris, 6 October 2021 (TDI): Bogdan Aurescu, the Romanian Foreign Minister met with Antony Blinken, the American State Secretary on the sidelines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Ministerial-level Council.

The Romanian Foreign Minister thanked the American Secretary of State for supporting Romania. He also thanked Antony Blinken for helping Romania to get membership in the OECD. Bogdan Aurescu further asserted that Romania is committed to the strategic partnership between the United States and Romania.
The two countries enjoy 141 years of long diplomatic relations established in 1880 just after the independence of Romania. Both countries continue to cooperate in the fields of economy, defence and security, strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption. The two countries also share partnerships in some of the world’s leading organizations such as NATO, Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe etc.
The OECD was also celebrating its 60th anniversary. It is an international organization aiming to formulate better policies for better lives. It also aims for providing solutions for the economic and environmental challenges. Its goal is to promote liberal democracy in the world which can provide equal opportunities to people for the well being of all.
