Islamabad, 18 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, met with the Swedish Ambassador, Henrik Persson to discuss ways to expand collaboration in areas of common interest.


The meeting between the two dignitaries took place in Islamabad on Wednesday. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan emphasized further enhancing and strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the steps taken by Swedish companies to increase investment in Pakistan and take advantage of it. Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan said that he will be happy if other countries also invest in Pakistan.

Additionally, the Foreign Minister expressed confidence that Pakistan and Sweden will continue to strengthen bilateral relations in various areas of common interest and cooperate on regional and international issues.  Moreover, the two dignitaries also discussed expanding collaboration in climate change, business and higher education.

For his part, Ambassador Persson appraised Pakistani students studying in higher education institutes in Sweden. Previously, to strengthen bilateral relations and trade, the two countries established Pakistan-Sweden Business Council.

Pakistan Sweden Business Council

The Council aims to encourage bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and Sweden by strengthening business relations and official alliances. It works to increase commercial opportunities and facilitate access to contacts and networks for closer and more positive relationships between the two countries.

Moreover, it operates as a member-oriented service organisation with core values of professional excellence, integrity and transparency.

The business council provides a platform for building relations and space for close engagement for the member community. In addition, it promotes young talent and entrepreneurship in Pakistan and Sweden to encourage innovation.
