Vilnius, 20 July 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Oman, Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, was honored with the high-ranking Lithuanian medal, the Commander’s Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania, on Tuesday.
President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda received the Foreign Minister at his Presidential palace. During the meeting, the President of Lithuania handed over the order to the Foreign Minister of Oman.
The medal was awarded in appreciation of Al Busaidi’s efforts to boost relations between the two countries.

The Commander’s Cross of the Order for Merits was established on 18 June 2002. It is conferred in recognition of distinguished merit in a variety of fields including economics, science, culture, and many others.
The Foreign Minister of Oman thanked the Lithuanian government for honoring him with the high-ranking medal.

Ahead of the conferment, Al Busaidi conveyed greetings and best wishes of the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik to the President of Lithuania. While President Nauseda also expressed his sincere sentiments to the Sultan of Oman.
The Honorary Consul of the Sultanate of Oman in Lithuania, Boleta Senkiene also attended the meeting. The meeting between the two dignitaries underscored the ties of friendship and cooperation between Oman and Lithuania.
In addition to this, the two sides also shared a keenness to promote relations in various fields. Oman and Lithuania enjoy longstanding diplomatic relations since 1992 and have signed a number of agreements since then.
Recently, the Foreign Minister of Oman also held talks with the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, Marius Skuodis, to boost cooperation in the field of technology and communications.
