Foreign Ministers of Mexico and South Koreas signing the Free Trade Agreement

Seoul, 5 July 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Mexico began his working tour in Seoul after an invitation from South Korea.

The Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrad, along with other Mexican representatives, arrived in Seoul for this diplomatic visit on July 3, 2022.

Mexico-South Korea discussion

During the visit, the foreign minister of Mexico signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Foreign Minister of South Korea, Park Jin.

For economic prosperity, both the representatives agreed to promote a free trade agreement between the nations. They also discussed the accession of the Asian country to the Pacific Alliance as an associated state.

In addition, the two dignitaries also signed a triangular agreement regarding financing development in Central America.

This agreement was signed to strengthen bilateral trade and to promote joint development actions for El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, especially concerning migration in Central America.

The delegation led by Foreign Minister Ebrad also includes executives from the pharmaceutical and academic sectors, along with Mexican businessmen.

These officials are expected to work on activities extending cooperation between Mexico and South Korea in different sectors.

The Mexican officials also visited the “Aztecs” exhibition in the National Museum of South Korea, which was a great success.

The officials of the National Institutes of Genomic Medicine of Mexico and South Korea also conducted meetings.

Foreign Minister Ebrad took to his Twitter and termed this as “Science Diplomacy in action.”

The Mexican delegation held a work meeting with officials of South Korean companies interested in Mexican markets. The Association of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs (KPTA) and the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) also joined the meeting.

In the commercial economic field, Foreign Minister Ebrad had a meeting with Han Jong-Hee, CEO of Samsung Electronics.

He confirmed an investment of 500 million dollars in Querétaro and Tijuana to increase the production of household appliances in Mexico.
