Islamabad: July 27, 2021- (TDI): Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan is on a day-long visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Prince Faisal bin Farhan is accompanied by a high-level delegation that comprises officials of the Saudi government. Moreover, this visit will be in response to PM Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021.

Both the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had their joint press conference today where they have shared their resolve to strengthen bilateral ties, regional and international issues. Both Foreign Minister reiterated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long-standing historic and fraternal relations which are deeply rooted in history and mutual support.

The FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that this visit will be a positive step in high-level exchange and deepening of bilateral cooperation in various fields. Both the countries also discussed easing the Covid 19 travel restrictions which have stranded Pakistani workers in returning to their homeland.

Earlier, on his arrival,  Al Saud said the kingdom was looking to expand the dimensions of its relationship with Pakistan through the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council (SP-SCC).  The SP-SCC, which is co-chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Prime Minister Imran Khan, was established after the two leaders signed an agreement in this regard in May while the latter was on a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Foreign Minister of KSA said that he is here in Pakistan to follow up on the visit made by Prime Minister Imran Khan in May especially after the SP-SCC was made. He has hoped that this is a milestone in Pakistani-Saudi relations and a new level will be achieved.

The topics under discussion during this meeting were related to economic affairs, regional security, and the issues faced by Pakistani residents in Saudi Arabia. Further, he also met with the PM of Pakistan Imran Khan, and President Dr. Arif Alvi at the President House in Islamabad.
