Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan visits Republic of North Macedonia

Skopje, 2 November 2022 (TDI): Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, on 1st November 2022.

The Foreign Minister held talks with Stevo Pendarovski, the President of Macedonia, and Talat Xhaferi the Chairman of the Assembly.

He also met with his Macedonian counterpart Bujar Osmani. During these official meetings, both sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation and collaboration.

The dialogues were held within the context of the forthcoming chairmanship of North Macedonia in the OSCE in 2023.

Discussion with President

In his meeting with the President, Mukhtar Tileuberdi discussed the multiple issues of related to the international agenda.

The Minister informed him about the strategies to execute the large-scale program, launched by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The program focuses on the political modernization of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Discussion with the Chairman of the Assembly

The interlocutors negotiated various possibilities to expand inter-parliamentary linkage between the two states. They also looked into the matter of activation of the undertakings of parliamentary friendship groups.

The negotiators also stressed the need and significance of the exchange of visits of legislators and their interaction within the framework of international parliamentary institutions.

The Foreign Minister also briefed the Chairman about the adopted course by Kazakhstan, for strengthening the parliament and multiparty system.

Discussion with Macedonian Counterpart

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan discussed the stimulants of developing bilateral cooperation between the two states, with Minister Bujar Osmani. They highlighted the need for the conduction of high-level visits between Kazakhstan and Macedonia.

The representatives also stressed the significance of the commencement of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The first meeting for the relevant project was planned to hold on November 3, 2022, in Skopje.

Both sides planned to take mutual initiatives for the further development of bilateral collaboration in the fields of trade, economics, agriculture, tourism, healthcare, education, transport, and logistics.

The parties also reached various agreements for the expansion of bilateral relations in some other sectors. In the joint statement, both counterparts announced the inauguration of the embassy of Kazakhstan in North Macedonia in 2023.
