Geneva, 13 September 2023 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov on his visit to the Swiss Confederation met with the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Tatyana Molchean on 12 September, in Geneva.
During the meeting, the prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, as well as the successes achieved by Azerbaijan in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals were discussed.
At the meeting, both sides exchanged words on Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in 2023.
Also, the cooperation of Azerbaijan with member states, and its facilitation towards trade and transport within the framework of SPECA were also discussed.
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan also informed about the National Development Priorities of Azerbaijan until 2030 and emphasized that the strategic goals for the National Development Priorities are closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
He also delineated that in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the initiative of securing a net zero emission zone by 2050 is announced.
He also explained the creation of a green energy zone, the creation of the concept of a Smart City and Smart Village, followed by opting for sustainable management of transboundary water resources, increasing greenery, and utilizing renewable energy resources.

Other Engagements
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, on his visit to the Swiss Confederation also had important diplomatic meetings with the other political officials on September 12, in Geneva.
It included the meeting with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Miryana Spolyarich Egger, where he discussed the cooperation between ICRC and Azerbaijan against the background of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
He also met with the Director General of the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG), Tatyana Valovaya to discuss Azerbaijan-UNOG cooperation, and Azerbaijan’s chairmanship for the UN Special Program for Central Asian Economies (SPECA) in 2023.
Apart from that, he also met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Daren Tang, to inform him about the current reforms applied in Azerbaijan and to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the two parties.
