Beijing, 23 July 2021 (TDI): On the invitation of Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi reached Beijing. He will be there for two days meeting with counterparts and other officials. The meeting came after 9 days since the bus blast killing Chinese nationals in Upper Kohistan. Nine Chinese nationals working on Dasu Hydro Power Project were killed when a bus transporting them to the construction site met an accident. According to the Foreign office’s official statement, the visit is part of the high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China. The visit is meant to expand “strategic communication” and coordination with China on a range of issues. The statement further reads that both sides are committed to building a closer Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future.

News Agencies are reporting that  Director General (DG) of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Faiz Hameed reached China as well this morning for “strategic talks” with important Chinese officials.

These high-level visits from Pakistan are of high importance after the tragic incident in Kohistan.
