Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has decided to suspend Consular Services in Islamabad from the next week in wake of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting.
The Foreign Office stated that the Consular Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad will remain suspended from 14th to 17th of this month on account of the security arrangements for the Council of Heads of Government Meeting of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
According to the Foreign Office, the Liaison Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Gujarat will continue to offer consular services without any interruption.

The government had already declared a three-day public holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
A notification issued in this regard read that all educational institutions and government offices in the twin cities will remain closed from October 14 to 16.

The decision was taken to facilitate the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting, scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad, officials said.
Arrangements in the Capital City for the meeting was in full swing for a couple of days.
Besides security measures, the Interior Minister instructed CDA for beautification of the city and for decorating all avenues and main roads.
