FM Wang Yi met with the SG of the Arab League


El-Alamein: 19 July 2021 (TDI):  Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Sunday and voiced China’s support for Arab states to follow a path of unity and self-improvement.

Wang said China supports the Arab League to play a greater role in promoting regional peace and stability as well as the political settlement of hotspot issues. He commended the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum’s role in boosting the ties between China and Arab states, adding the consensus reached on building a China-Arab community with a shared future in the new era and holding the first China-Arab states summit had injected new impetus into the strategic partnership between China and Arab states.

Aboul-Gheit extended congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and spoke highly of the historic achievements made by China under CPC’s leadership. He also thanked China for providing material assistance to Arab League to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the Arab League appreciates China’s just position on regional issues, supports China’s initiatives on the regional situation and hotspot issues, and is willing to communicate closely with China to ensure the success of the first China-Arab states summit.

The dignitaries also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
