Kabul: 26 July 2021 (TDI): Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan met with Mohammad Ibrahim Taherian, Special Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation, who arrived in Kabul this afternoon.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke about the discontinuation of violence, an end to irrational killings, torture of civilian population, and human rights violations in Taliban-held areas, praising the Islamic Republic of Iran’s rational perspectives in support of the peace process. The Taliban’s presence and increase in violence will lead to the spread of extremism and the presence of international terrorist groups such as ISIS in Afghanistan and the region.
Mr. Atmar described political, economic, cultural, and trade cooperation between Kabul and Tehran as an expeditious need for the governments and people of the two nations. He called for additional cooperation in a variety of fields, particularly the peace process.

Mr. Taherian also guaranteed and convinced the Foreign Minister of his country’s support for the Afghan peace process while preserving the achievements of the previous two decades. He also called for greater cooperation between Kabul and Tehran in various fields, including border collaboration and integration between associated departments.
