Gwadar, 1 October 2022 (TDI): A solemn flag-raising ceremony was held in Gwadar Port to warmly celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, also referred to as National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

On Saturday morning, the Chinese staff, Pakistani staff, local students, dignitaries, and representatives from all walks of life in the port area lined up neatly.

The students of Faqeer Colony Primary School stood in front with flowers in their hands. The high-spirited flag-raising team marched neatly and cheerfully to escort the national flag to the flag platform, accompanied by the majestic national anthem of the People’s Republic of China. The bright five-star red flag rose steadily.

This is the tenth time the five-star red flag has been raised in Gwadar Port. In the past ten years, Gwadar Port has revamped the economy, benefited people’s livelihood, and promoted employment, construction, and development.

Projects such as Gwadar Faqeer Colony Public School, Gwadar Vocational and Technical Institute, and East Bay Expressway aided and constructed by China have been completed and put into operation. Major livelihood projects such as desalination plants are under vigorous construction.

With the continuous development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor towards a high-quality target, Gwadar Port, the “jewel in the crown”, will undoubtedly become brighter and brighter.

History of National Day of the People’s Republic of China

On 1 October 1949, on Tiananmen Square in Peking, Beijing, the new capital of China, Mao Zedong, the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), officially announced the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.

During the chairman’s declaration address at the foundation event, the establishment of the Central People’s Government, the new state’s government led by the CCP, was formally announced.

Previously, on November 7, 1931, at Ruijin, Jiangxi, with the assistance of the Soviet Union, the CCP had announced the establishment of the Chinese Soviet Republic (CSR) among the discontiguous rebel-held territories of China not under Nationalist authority. The CSR was in place for seven years before being abolished in 1937.

China’s new national anthem The March of the Volunteers was performed for the first time, and the People’s Republic of China’s new national flag (the Five-star Red Flag) was formally presented and flown for the first time during the ceremonies while a 21-gun salute fired in the background.

Following the hoisting of the national flag and the playing of the PRC national song, the first open military parade of the then-new People’s Liberation Army took place.
