First Canadian IT Provider Enters Pakistan with Locally Hosted Email and Office Suite

OneOffice, the Montreal-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) brand of ZeGenie Inc., has signed a commercial contract with Islamabad-based Ziel Global to deliver user-hosted, domain-specific email and a complete office suite in Pakistan.

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Montreal announced the agreement, describing it as the first entry of a Canadian IT service provider into the Pakistani market and a first-of-its-kind commercial venture.

Ziel Global is a Pakistani IT company with a global presence. Under the deal, it will bring OneOffice’s platform to Pakistani customers who want control over where their data lives.

The platform lets customers host the service on the cloud of their choice, including on private servers. According to the consulate, this setup keeps data security in full alignment with Government of Pakistan policies.

The suite combines advanced email, document editing, file sharing, chat, video calls, project management, ERP and AI integration in a single encrypted application.

Price is a central selling point. OneOffice says its products cost less than half of what its global competitors charge. The announcement cites estimates that millions of domain email accounts and office-suite subscriptions are in use across Pakistan, with users spending an average of USD 84 a year on each.

At OneOffice’s prices, the consulate says, the country could save hundreds of millions of US dollars annually. These figures are estimates from the announcement and have not been independently verified.

OneOffice already serves governments and large enterprises in Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. It reaches these customers through channel partners including STC, Zain, Vodacom, SITA, Telkom, Ethiopian Telecom, MTN and Djezzy. The company has not yet said whether similar telecom partnerships are planned for Pakistan.

Faisal Abro, Consul General of Pakistan in Montreal, facilitated the agreement, and the consulate said the effort is part of a broader push to bring international IT companies to Pakistan, in line with the Government of Pakistan’s vision.
