Islamabad, 2 September 2024 (TDI): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday chaired a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs), the Finance Division said.
The session addressed key issues concerning the management and future strategy of several major State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
According to a statement issued today, the Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, the Minister for Housing & Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, the Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, the Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and chairpersons of various state entities attended the meeting.

The meeting gave more attention to the revival of the TCP.
“The committee decided to categorize TCP as an essential SOE under the SOEs Policy, 2023,” the statement said. It added that the Finance Division will prepare a comprehensive financial plan to address the corporation’s liabilities.
The committee approved the proposal of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs for the appointment of two independent directors on the Board of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation under Section 17 of the Companies Act, 2017.
The committee endorsed these appointments and recommended that the PNSC be designated as a Strategic SOE.
