Finance Minister Meets Standard Chartered Leadership

Islamabad, 4 September 2024 (TDI): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb Wednesday held a virtual meeting with Sunil Kaushal, Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Chartered Bank to discuss extending investment opportunities in Pakistan.

According to the Finance Division, the CEO of Standard Chartered Pakistan Rehan Shaikh, the Finance Secretary, and other senior officers of the Finance Division attended the meeting in person.

The finance minister underscored that Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators were on an upward trajectory while reiterating the government’s commitment to maintaining economic stability through various reforms.

“We are dedicated to creating a conducive environment for foreign investments, ensuring that Pakistan remains a competitive and attractive destination for global investors,” Aurangzeb added.

The high-level discussions centred on exploring potential collaborations between the Government of Pakistan and Standard Chartered Bank in infrastructure development, digital banking, and sustainable finance.

During the meeting, Kaushal praised Pakistan’s improving economic outlook and reaffirmed Standard Chartered’s commitment to the country.

“Standard Chartered sees Pakistan as a key market with vast opportunities and we are committed to deepening our engagement with the country by extending all kinds of investment and financial support needed to fulfil the country’s economic ambitions, in the present as well as the years to come,” he stated.
